Chevonne Smith, LCSW

Founder, Clinical Director

I am a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a profound commitment to positively impacting individuals' lives. From a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that would make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After moving from Jamaica to Hartford, CT, at the age of 14, I experienced profound culture shock, which opened my eyes to how poverty, systemic racism, and other cultural stressors can significantly affect mental health. This realization led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and a master’s degree in Social Work.

Since completing my MSW, I’ve gained extensive experience working in hospital settings with patients facing dual diagnoses, mental health, and substance use disorders. I’ve served as a crisis clinician in Emergency Departments and worked in outpatient settings with individuals across all age groups.

I work with adults, families, and children facing various mental health challenges. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I’m passionate about empowering individuals to address their concerns and achieve their personal goals. With a strong focus on empathy and active listening, I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where individuals feel genuinely heard and understood.

As a licensed clinical social worker in the greater Hartford area, I’m deeply committed to the well-being of others, helping them manage their mental health, develop effective coping strategies, and lead joyful, fulfilling lives.

Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a passion for helping others and providing meaningful support during life’s challenges.

My approach is patient-centered, grounded in the belief that it’s essential to meet people where they are. I aim to create a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you feel truly heard and supported. Life is filled with stressors, and I’m committed to equipping you with the tools and coping mechanisms needed to overcome these obstacles.

As your therapist, I am here to listen, guide, and empower you as we work together to create practical interventions and achieve attainable goals. I appreciate the trust you place in me, and I look forward to walking this journey with you.
